Training camp 2012- Scotie Vandergriff75 viewsEnjoy the opportunity to be at camp. Brett is my son's favorite player and we drove to Latrobe from Charlotte, NC to spend last week at camp. I so hoped my son could get Brett's autograph but it didn't happen. However my son was thrilled because Brett gave out high fives before practice and he got his "five" on three different days. He also got his pic taken at Brett's locker at Heinz . But the best part is the story he gets to tell about chasing Brett into the kitchen at Geo's one night when Brett made an appearance with Foote and Taylor. My son saw Brett leaving through the kitchen and he ran in there and asked him to sign his ball. The handlers with Brett wouldn't allow him to do it but I could see in Brett's face that he wanted to but he was led outside to a car. I was afraid my son would be disappointed but he was like "hey dad that was the coolest thing ever I didn't even realize I ran into the kitchen." I asked if he was ok and he said he was going to tell everyone he got to chase Da Beard. I was so proud of him for taking something that could have been a negative and making a good memory out of it. He also said he knew it was probably close to curfew and he didn't want Brett to get into trouble. I thought that was very mature thinking for a thirteen year old, but then I'm biased lol. We will definitely be planning to make a trip to camp next season and my boy will be on the hunt for Brett's autograph.Aug 09, 2012
